Transliteration of the passport holder’s name in Latin 401/2011 opinion of the State Legal Council for the transliteration of the passport holder’s name in Latin, in deviance to the standard program ELOT 743

Specifically, from 07/11/2011 and under the no. 401/2011 opinion of the State Legal Council, citizens wishing the transcription of their names in Latin characters on their passports, in deviance to the standard program ELOT 743, may acquire a passport with their name or surname transcribed differently so that the recorded data is not only in accordance with the standard ELOT 743 program (always) but also- in exception to this program- in the cases that there are public (official) documents (passport or identity card) which certify the different transcription. In such cases the conjunction “OR” must always separate the two names or surnames.

The new identities of the Police personnel were presented on Thursday, February 4th, 2010, by the Chief of the Hellenic Police – Police Lieutenant General Eleftherios Ikonomou and the Director of the National Passport Center, Brigadier General Georgios Kamperis, at a press conference held at the Police Headquarters.
